I hate resource gathering. I hate it, I prefer to fight wars. I think it would be cool if you had to run your campaign on a budget, you could ask for more but it would take time. Also you could conscript but it would lower moral and risk mutiny. I also don't like the units just coming out of a barracks. You should have a rate of volunteers and if you get conscription then the rate goes up. You still have to house your troops somewhere and build bases. If you win battles with minimum casualties you get moral boosts, the more money you put to food and entertainment the better moral is. I just think this would be an interesting thing to do in an RTS. High Moral would also make units fight better, low moral fight worse or even risk mutiny in which groups of troops would refuse to follow orders or even start fighting you.

That is a good idea. Only problem I could see with it would be the bagillion lines of code needed to program something like that.

If you hate resource gathering try the "Ground Control" series, they're excellent little sleeper hits.

That is a pretty good idea and I'd try out a game that used it, but I'm a traditionalist when it comes to strategy games, both real time and turn based. Age of Empires, Warcraft, Fire Emblem and Red Alert <3.

Dawn of War was my favorite RTS since Starcraft. Relic knows how to take everything that makes an RTS great and crank it up to 11!
